Rich is currently in the United States Air Force living in Montgomery, Alabama one year from retirement. He served 19 years as a Special Agent in the Air Force (similar to NCIS). He has worked with embassies all over the world, and had the chance to work closely with NATO, the UN, and even negotiate peace treaties. Rich is now an instructor at a military school finishing up the last year of my career.

He has been interested in real estate and investment ever since I was a child. He worked at Fidelity Investments as a stockbroker in college and has devoured most finance and real estate books out there. He plans to direct his effort to full-time real estate investing as well as finance and real estate education for the military community once he’s retired.

To round it out, Rich travels a lot and when he went to Japan, he flipped about 8 houses with a partner. 2013, he moved to Montgomery, Alabama for air command staff college. He bought 6 houses and left to spend 5 years overseas and bought 14 more. All 20 houses are paid off. In this episode, Rich talks about what helped him buy all 20 houses in just a few years, how he was able to pay cash for all of them and some financial advice for people joining the military.

Shelby graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2012, served in the Army for 6 years and got out as a Captain in the beginning of 2018 to dive into Real Estate full time as both a broker & investor.

Following her first year in the game, Shelby was recognized as the Keller Williams Rookie of the Year for the “Carolinas Region,” both North & South Carolina. She founded Five Pillars Realty Group on January 1st, 2019 and in their first year, were recognized as an eXp Icon Team, completing 130 transactions and 19 million in volume.

Since beginning her investment portfolio in November 2017, Shelby acquired 41 rental units comprised of both long-term & short-term rentals… plus a few airbnb arbitrages.

To round it out, Shelby founded “Pints & Properties,” a Real Estate Investors meetup in Fayetteville, NC. Pints & Properties is growing rapidly and has attracted talented guest speakers such as BiggerPockets stars Matt Faircloth, author of Raising Private Capital and Craig Curelop, author of The House Hacking Strategy.

What’s the future look like? Only time will tell… but it’s gonna’ be good.

Ron Coury is a former Marine that has owned over 20 businesses since his time in the military. Ron has been a successful real estate agent, real estate investor, casino owner, Limo company owner, and even owned seven Car dealerships!

I really love that ron talks about his triple net leases under taverns, car dealerships, and casinos. Those are assets that will pay him handsomely for a very long time! Ron is a fun, and very experienced business owner who recently authored the book Tenacity Which I have already added to my list on Audible!

Advice to an 18-20-year old: Tenacity! Failure is NOT an option, adapt and overcome any obstacles that appear in your path.

Advice to an 18-20-year old: Take action! Give your apprehension a name and then conquer it! Play good defense.
